Hi, I’m Gina Hames and I launched Georgina Louise in 2017. After years’ experience working in the bridal industry, I decided to take the leap and go full time and following my dream to start my own bridal wear company. I’m very passionate about fabrics and design, and feel lucky to be involved in a bride’s journey to creating her dream dress from start to finish.
I’ve always had the desire to follow my dreams, and I'm also very driven to create a job I love and to share my passion with people. I’m constantly collecting ideas, reviewing the latest fashion and bridal trends and I have a keen eye for detail, so it was a natural progression into this area. My main reason to start my business was the attitude my mother has probably taught me, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis 20 years ago, so it has rubbed off on me her idea to just go for things if the opportunity arises!
Graduating from The University of Huddersfield with a BA (Hons) in Costume with Textiles, I am a fully qualified Costume Designer and worked in film and television during my time at University. The year of graduating in 2015, I went to live in Sydney, Australia for a while and during this time gained experience at The Sydney Opera House in the wardrobe department. After deciding to set up a business in 2017, I chose to go through the Prince’s Trust enterprise programme, a company which now supports my business. I also work at NEXT head office once a week, in the pattern design room. I create samples from start to finish for photo shoots, meetings and presentations.
Georgina Louise creates modern bridal wear, including bridal dresses and bridal separates. I love to create bridal separates in my collections which are released each year. This is because bridal separates provide the flexibility to create your own unique bridal look and layer as you wish, but also because they are ideal for trying on during bridal appointments. Whether a bride has already purchased a skirt and is after a top, wants sleeves adding to her dress or a complete bespoke look – all items are available to try on at the Georgina Louise studio. Georgina Louise places utmost importance in providing a relaxed and welcoming approach to all bridal appointments, in a stylish and comfortable space. With the latest fashion magazines, fabric samples and photos of inspiration, it’s an ideal space to start the process of creating your dream dress, with creative guidance from Gina.
