Brown long-eared bat painting by Sarah Perkins Art

Sarah Perkins Supports Bat Conservation Charity with Batty Artwork

Sat, 31/10/2020 - 16:34

Sarah Perkins has created a unique painting of a Brown Long-Eared Bat which was presented in a beautiful floating frame.

The original artwork has now been donated to the Derbyshire Bat Group and the charity auction, which ended perfectly on Halloween, raisied an amazing £360 for the charity.

Brown long-eared bats are one of the most common bats in the British Isles but are rarely recorded due to their quiet echolocation calls which make them extremely difficult to pick up on bat detectors. They whisper their ultrasonic calls so that moths don't hear them approaching and so they need their huge ears to listen for the echoes coming back in the dark.

Derbyshire Bat Group is a registered charity working across Derbyshire to conserve and protect its bats and their environment. Find out more about their work on their website

If you missed out in auction you can still purhase a limited edition mounted print, these are available from Sarah's online shop and 25% of each sale will be donated to the charity.
