work by Susan Bedford

Around the World in a Million Pixels

This solo exhibition by Sue Bedford is a collection of original mixed media textile artworks alongside developmental studies and photography inspired by Susan's travels around the world.

Over the past three years Susan has lived a nomadic lifestyle, visiting familiar as well as more remote locations around the world. As a prolific photographer she captures images of what inspires her during her travels to inform her outcomes as a mixed media textile artist. Susan constructs disjointed, textural responses to her own photographs that represent the divide between the digital and the real world.

The pixilation of subjects has become a key concept within Susan’s work. She deconstructs her responses until the details, colours and textures take on an identity of their own and then work together in harmony when reconstructed.

Works on show will include original framed artworks, photographs and watercolour studies produced during her travels as well as a new collection of photo stitch originals.  Locations represented in the work are from the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South America, Vancouver and Alaska.

During the exhibition, Susan will be on site creating new works in response to her most recent visits to Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Asia.

Follow Susan on Facebook for the most up to date information about times she will be in attendance.

The exhibition runs from 18 Sept - 6 Oct and is open weekdays 10am-3pm; Sundays 1-4pm when Sue will be on hand to talk about her work, travels and demonstrate her techniques.
