“Light in The Shadows”
Stories of Hope: The Vision Behind ‘Light in the Shadows’
An Extraordinary Celebration of Talent, Resilience, and Creativity
From December 10th to 12th, 2024, a truly transformative event will unfold. Light in the Shadows: Stories of Hope.
Showing artwork and providing support for the exhibition is Armstrong Agoreyo. Armstrong was the recipient of this year's MA Art Degree Show - Arts Enterprise Award, winning him a free studio space at Banks Mill where he will be taking up residence for a 2-month period.
This is more than just an art exhibition; it’s a profound celebration of resilience, creativity, and the unique talents of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
This extraordinary event aims to shine a light on the shadows of adversity, revealing the incredible strength and creativity that often go unseen. It’s a space where art becomes a powerful medium to tell stories, break barriers, and inspire hope.
The inspiration for Light in the Shadows lies in the untold stories of young people with Special Educational Needs (SEND)—stories of triumph over challenges, moments of brilliance, and the courage to dream despite the odds. These young individuals often navigate a world that may not always understand or accommodate their differences, yet they persist, thrive, and create. Isn’t that amazing?
This exhibition was born from the desire to give these voices the platform they deserve, to celebrate their contributions, and to showcase the extraordinary beauty of their perspectives through art. It is a reminder that creativity knows no bounds and that talent flourishes even in the face of adversity.
