Welcome Back

Wildlife artist Sarah Perkins has returned to Banks Mill Studios, taking up residence in Studio 1.7 after previously being based at the Mill several years ago. 

Sarah was formerly a resident artist at Banks Mill but sadly had to cut short her tenancy due to the demands of caring responsibilities and family commitments. Although stepping away from the studio was a difficult decision, she remained an Affiliate member, and continued her creative practice, but at a slower pace due to navigating a particularly challenging period of life. 

Working under the name Sarah Perkins Art, Sarah is best known for her detailed wildlife and animal paintings, which have gained recognition through exhibitions, commissions and events across the Midlands and beyond. Her work explores the character, beauty and individuality of animals, often inspired by the British countryside and the natural world. 

With those caring responsibilities now greatly reduced, and both of her sons now settled and thriving in a specialist school, Sarah has been able to return her focus to growing her artistic career and is delighted and grateful to once again be part of the Banks Mill community. 

Sarah’s return marks an exciting new chapter. Alongside her established wildlife work & pet portraiture, she is looking to expand her practice into landscapes through the use of oils, direct observation and painting from life. Recent work has begun to explore atmosphere, light and a deeper connection with nature, moving beyond traditional studio-based reference photography. 

Already this year, Sarah has exhibited work in several regional exhibitions/events and is looking forward to making the most of the opportunities, support and creative community that Banks Mill offers. 

She is excited to see where this next stage of her artistic journey leads. 

Looking ahead, Sarah will be exhibiting at The Artisan Show at Staunton Harold Hall from 21–23 August 2026. Visitors will be able to browse her collection of original wildlife and nature-inspired paintings, alongside limited edition prints, greeting cards, homewares and gifts featuring her artwork.
