Well then, you’re in luck! The new Monthly Makers Market is a grassroots event that has been organised by our enterprising Banks Mill tenants.  2024’s Open Studios event was a first for many tenants, with new creatives having moved into the building in late 2023 and early 2024, the event was energised by tenants who were thrilled to take part in such a long-standing event in Derby’s creative calendar. Visitors also commented on how exciting it was to see so many new creatives and get to know their practices.  

Riding high on the events success, some of Banks Mill’s tenants and members decided that they wanted to do it all over again! Artists have always been change-makers, and these artists are no exception.  

Banding together to make it happen, this first cohort of Banks Mill tenants and members will now be hosting a Monthly Makers Market right here at Banks Mill Studios. Studio tenants will be throwing their doors open and Affiliate members will be setting up in the foyer gallery space and empty studios to join them in welcoming the public back to Banks Mill to browse, meet the artists and buy handmade art directly from the source! 

 

The selection of artists taking part will grow and change from month to month, allowing creatives to be flexible but also creating a changing line-up of makers for people to visit each month.  

The first Monthly Makers Market will be taking place at Banks Mill Studios on Saturday 1st March from 10am- 4pm and will continue on the first Saturday of each month thereafter.
