Andy, aka mr the beef. I’m an artist, illustrator and educator. Inspired by a childhood in the 1980s & 90s, brutalist architecture, music, and print processes, my practice is rooted in observation and memory; observing the world in as many ways as I can, then responding and reinterpreting through drawing, paint and print. Working on a variety of surfaces from found and salvaged objects to cardboard and canvas, my output ranges from small scale pieces to murals, brought together by a visual language of character and humour developed over two decades.

Central to my work is my sketchbook practice alongside an interest in authenticity and connection. Drawing as a way to learn, to process, to collaborate and as something to be shared; whether through exhibitions, prints, workshops or doodles on a beer mat!

I am also a qualified secondary school art teacher and currently lecture in Illustration at Birmingham City University.”
