January 29, 2026
Catch up with Mars, owner of Blood Moon after one year in residence here at Banks Mill!
How would you describe your business/creative practice?
Unique alternative upcycled textiles and print using a wide range of materials and resources to create one of a kind, customised pieces.
How have you developed over the last 12 months since moving into Banks Mill?
I have had the space to grow in the studio and amazing surrounding community, and as a result, I have had the opportunity to focus significantly more on my business, growing a decent social media presence and an ever expanding range of products and increased sales.
Have you engaged in any support/groups or networking in the last 12 months?
Yes, whilst it hasnt been a primary focus, I have attended a few networking events, one in particular being Rosie Yates launch party for her first exhibition, where I got to know artists and friends on a level outside of my usual comfort zone.
How do you think your practice has changed since being at Banks Mill?
Significantly more focused and professional, becoming a full time job as well as a hobby.
What have you been working on recently?
Rebuilding my Instagram from scratch after an unexpected suspension, developing my plans on taking the Monthly Makers Market forward from fellow tenant Maria Terry, and working on my upcoming drops.

How has being based at Banks Mill helped your business?
Growth and independence, as well as a community to rely on.
What are your plans for your business for the next 12 months?
Continue to grow and expand, pushing my brand in more markets and events.
What would you say to anyone who is thinking of starting their own creative business?
Try it! The worst that can happen is you’ll know you tried! It is hard, and it is stressful, but it is so rewarding!
