Classes, Mentoring and Studio time with Artist Ed Heron
Artist Ed Heron will be opening up his studio to offer a range of creative opportunities, if you’d be interested in taking up a class or getting involved in his “studio time” offering, you can book via the link at the bottom of the page.
Artist Mentoring
Artist Mentoring with Ed is a one-to-one session for artists, makers and creative adults who would like thoughtful, practical support with their work. Sessions can be used to explore ideas, look at current paintings or drawings, discuss technique, plan a project, prepare for exhibition, or simply get unstuck. The aim is not to impose a fixed way of working, but to help each artist understand what they are trying to make and what their next useful step might be. People are welcome to bring sketchbooks, finished or unfinished work, questions, images, materials, or half-formed ideas.
Oil Painting for Beginners – Four-Week Class
Oil Painting for Beginners is a friendly four-week course for adults who would like to try oil painting or return to it with more confidence. The course introduces the basic materials, surfaces, brushes, colour mixing, paint handling and simple planning needed to begin a painting. Each week will include demonstration, practical exercises and time to paint, with guidance from Ed in a small group setting. The course is designed for beginners, rusty returners, and people who feel nervous about getting started. The emphasis is on learning how oil paint behaves, building confidence, and enjoying the process rather than producing a perfect finished work.
Studio Time
Studio Time is a small, supported open studio session for painters who need space, structure and company to make work. Participants bring their own project and use the studio for focused making time, with tea, coffee, a calm working atmosphere and light-touch guidance from Ed if needed. It is ideal for people who do not have their own studio, struggle to make time at home, want gentle accountability, or would enjoy working alongside others in a creative setting. Studio Time is not a formal class, but Ed will be on hand to help with ideas, materials, technique or next steps when useful.
