How would you describe your work?
Creepy Paintings and Dystopian Sculpture
What’s the story behind your work, are there any themes you respond to in particular?
I enjoy studying theory and fiction to create dystopian new future narratives that force viewers to reflect on the current state of the world and how we should proceed into the future.
What University did you graduate from? What course did you study?
University of Huddersfield – BA Hons Contemporary Art and Illustration and currently studying at the University of Derby – MA Art
How will being connected to Banks Mill help your business?
For me, connecting with other creatives in the local area that are also taking part in contemporary art exhibitions and events is essential networking for new artists.
What other work experience/support/training have you gained that’s relevant to what you’re doing now?
I have been a part of many external exhibitions and publications. I am currently volunteering as a staff artist for the online magazine Writer Girlies.
What are you working on at the moment?
My second year MA sculptural project with UoD based on robots and dystopian themes surrounding decay and human agency.
Tell us a bit about your work/techniques/how long a piece takes to complete etc
I use found objects and multimedia to create dystopian sculptures and installations that are heavily narrative driven. They typically take months to develop fully as the story evolves and grows within the objects I create.
What are your plans for your creative practice for the next 12 months?
Finish my degree and begin developing a professional practice with Banks Mill studios.
