New Tenant MxEthixs

January 8, 2026

MxEthixs otheriwse known as Sara, is one of our newest tenants here at Banks Mill

How would you describe your business/creative practice?

MxEthixs is a contemporary art practice that fuses street art and pop art. My work includes murals, private commissions, and personal non-commissioned work. Sustainability sits in my heart with careful consideration given to materials, production methods, and longevity. I combine bold, graphic and bright visuals with an ethical approach, creating art that is designed to be meaningful, durable, and accessible in both public and private spaces. I’ve recently been leaning into work and designs portraying environmental activism with a particular interest in displaying nature and wildlife within an urban setting.

What does MxEthixs mean? MxEthixs is a name founded in identity and values. “Mx” is a gender-neutral title representing inclusivity, self-definition, freedom, and personal growth. “Ethixs” is a reworking of ethics, emphasising lived values such as sustainability, responsibility, and conscious creation. MxEthixs reflects a creative practice built on inclusivity, ethical intention, and meaningful change.

Can you tell us the story behind why you started your business/practice and your journey so far.

MxEthixs grew from a period of personal change and recovery, where creativity became an important outlet for reflection, rebuilding, and self-expression. What began as a personal practice developed into commissioned work and public-facing projects, allowing my artwork to connect with wider audiences. The journey so far has been shaped by resilience, growth, and a commitment to creating work with both visual impact and purpose

What do you hope that being part of the Banks Mill community will do for your creative Business/practice? Is there one thing in particular that you’re looking forward to?

I hope that being part of Banks Mill will give me some stability and momentum. Having a dedicated studio space alongside other working creatives would help me stay focused, consistent, and more confident in the direction I’m taking my work. I think being in a shared creative environment would naturally push the quality of my work and how I present it as a business. I’m keen to learn from how others work, share skills where I can, and grow in a way that feels practical and sustainable rather than rushed. I’m excited about possible chances for informal collaboration, seeing how other people approach their work, and feeling part of a place where making and experimenting is normal and encouraged.

Do you have any other work experience/support/or training that’s relevant to what you’re doing now?

Everything I have ever done is relevant to what I’m doing now, as are the experiences of anyone who views any piece of artwork. Art is an expression of a feeling, an idea, an experience, a question, a perspective. The way it is absorbed individually differs from person to person. Its meaning defined by their own memories, emotions, beliefs and perspective.

What are you working on at the moment?

New mural concepts for Spring/ Summer 2026, private commissions, and developing designs for a very limited experimental clothing release. I also have two series of non-commission work at concept stage that I want to develop in the studio.

Tell us about your work/techniques/how long a piece takes to complete etc

Sometimes its trial and error and I just go with the flow, and sometimes I develop an idea over time. Whatever feels right. Techniques vary. I like to sketch, I like to paint, I like to spray, I hate digital. I do it because it’s very useful but ProCreate and Photoshop are not currently my friends. I’m working on that. Most things take me forever due to an inability to focus on one project at a time, or make a decision, and I have an irritating propensity towards perfectionism. Distraction comes easy to me. That’s until I have a deadline and then the work gets done!. An approaching deadline means I’m underground; existing on hits of panic-induced adrenaline and riskily high doses of caffeine. I’m hidden away somewhere in a productive vacuum. Deadlines are key. If I’m not given one, I’ll ask for one.

What are your plans for your business/practice for the next 12 months?

Expanding mural projects, growing private commissions, and developing new bodies of work. I’d also hope to strengthen community connections and engage in larger-scale urban collaboration projects.

Is there any further information you would like to share?

I believe that creativity can be a positive force for change – personally, emotionally, socially and environmentally. I hope to create work that resonates visually while carrying depth, honesty and intention.
