Venus Behjati – A New Landscape Exhibition

July 29, 2025

An exciting new take on art, music and the beauty of duality and contrast

This first began when I collaborated with Bex (Rebecca Johnstone), a musical therapist for her album launch, people loved watching me painting during her performance, I think that the visual elements added a new dimension to the whole experience. Since then musicians were so interested in getting involved and wanted to take part. The whole performance will be improvised by musicians and me.

My recent pieces explore the balance between dreams and waking life, sharpening my awareness of life’s essentials: sunlight, water, nourishment, and life’s miraculous processes. This new collection prominently features symbols of the sun and feminine forms, particularly the female body.

This “New Landscape” is inhabited by hybrid creatures, human-animal-plant assemblages bearing unexpected anatomical forms. This unsettling ambiguity emphasises the sacredness and mystery of the female body, exploring the duality of women’s perceptions: revered as life-givers yet historically stigmatised.

I aim to disrupt surface-level awareness, pushing audiences to explore aspects of themselves often overshadowed by routine. The blend of dream logic with scientific plausibility evokes a deeper recognition of human experience, inviting viewers to embrace life’s complexity, beauty, and contradictions.
