Through reworked colour and urban-style techniques, Primal Pop turns familiar subjects into something more playful, bold, and visually striking. This series of bold animal paintings uses bright colour and a mix of painting and spray techniques. Influenced by urban and pop art, the work uses strong lines, layered colour, and visible textures like drips and spray to create striking, high-impact images.

Sara Lang, the creator and owner of MxEthixs says “My work is influenced by urban and pop art, particularly the use of strong colour, clean shapes, and layered marks. I’m interested in how far colour can be pushed while still holding onto the subject. I start with real animal references, then break them down into shapes and rebuild them using blocks of colour and line. Some areas are controlled and precise, while others are more instinctive, with drips, spray, and texture left visible”.
